Hello Again! As summer begins its way into the beautiful hues of autumn and we begin our winding down period, the thoughts of grade school come back. Students rising and telling all about their summer adventures. First and foremost I am grateful. The response from my first newsletter both delighted and surprised me. I was so happy and grateful to all of you that took the time to read it and/or contact me. I am excited to have all of you move along with me on my ventures.
The summer started out with a home in Rogers where we designed and organized a playroom. The client was so pleased with the results we then went through the home one room at a time painting, organizing and just a few new touches. I completed several DIY consultations (which is a one-time visit) just giving advice on how to get started. The pictures are on my website please take a look. Traveling was also in the cards this summer. We took a trip to Montana where I have a few projects going. It was a wonderful creative excursion and the helicopter ride over Glacier Park is something I can take off my Bucket List.
What I take from this summer is that we all want our families to have great memories of the places they grow up in. Whether that is your weekend home or your family room when you walk through the door, you know you are home. It is comfortable, safe and peaceful place for us to renew our spriits.
BTW – Please be sure to join us for our big Designer’s Open House and Wish Trunk Sale on September 11th! And you can sign up for a DIY class for this fall.
I look forward to seeing you!
Cheers!

5 Golden Rules

- Set a timeline.
- Budget Realistically. Always expect things to go 10-15% over budget.
- Determine who is responsible for what. Make sure you know whether you contractor / decorator is doing the ordering, or are you?
- Establish a Switzerland and a Germany. For the length of the project divide your home into 2 areas. SWITZERLAND - A neutral area which is not part of the project. This is your retreat from the mess. GERMANY - which is a place that is super-organized and neat so you can store and find all of yoru tools, supplies, etc...
- Keep a Running Punch List. A record of jobs that haven't been completed, things that have gone wrong and need to be fixed. Start list at beginning and don't complete payment to contractors, etc. until ALL items have been dealt with.
Color Tip

Blue... Evoking the colors and emotions of sky and sea, blue is calming, tranquil and soothing. Expansive and cool, it appears to recede, raise ceilings, and push back walls. Blues offer a quiet, restful, change of pace. Lighter shades, a favorite for personal spaces like bedrooms and studies, while darker hues suggest serenity and can also serve as a pleasing backdrop for more brightly colored objects. While the darker colors convey dignity, the lighter hues grace spaces wiht a confident, airy simplicity. Blue with yellow accessories is vibrant and happy. Dark blue with very white woodwork and/or molding is timeless. Let your imagination soar. Please don't forget all the faux finishes when using blue, such as suede, sheen, light strokes, precious metal, potter's clay to name just a few.
Fun-time Classes Coming Up

Classes will be forming soon! We want to make decorating your home easy and affordable. Re-purposing and old table can be as simple as taking a gel staining class, and restoring it's original beauty, or completely changing it's look to a piece that just makes you happy looking at it. A stenciling class, or even one-stroke painting class brings your imagination to new heights. An upholstery class for a favorite ottoman or bench. Maybe a comfy old chair with a new look can change your entire room's personality. Brainstorming with others about your ideas and an informed teacher can change your world and bring you joy! Watch for our list of classes, or contact us and bring your ideas for a class. We can spray paint with a flair, customize yoru mirrors, re-wire and/or re-purpose a lamp, make a favorite chatch-kee into a lamp. Even TOTALLY customize your rooms with crown molding!
