1) Set a timeline.
2) Budget Realistically.
Always expect things to go 10-15% over budget.
3) Determine who is responsible for what.
Make sure you know whether you contractor / decorator is doing the ordering, or are you?
4) Establish a Switzerland and a Germany.
For the length of the project divide yoru home into 2 areas.
- SWITZERLAND – A neutral area which is not part of the project. This is your retreat from the mess.
- GERMANY – which is a place that is super-organized and neat so you can store and find all of yoru tools, supplies, etc…
5) Keep a Running Punch List.
A record of jobs that haven’t been completed, things that have gone wrong and need to be fixed. Start list at beginning and don’t complete payment to contractors, etc. until ALL items have been dealt with.
